NPG accepts most insurances including Husky. We are honored to support our military families with TRICARE insurance as well. Please call our office if you have questions about your particular insurance.
Parents of newborns just need to call our office prior to discharge to schedule the first visit within a few days of coming home after delivery.
For older patients, please complete the following steps:
Please note that for legal and safety reasons, at least one of the legal guardians must be present for the first visit at our office, or the child cannot be seen.
State supplied physical forms are available from our office for children in daycare, preschool, and K-12th grade. School physicals are only mandatory for daycare/preschool, kindergarten, 7th and 10th grades, and for anyone participating in a school sport. Please let the staff know that you need a form filled out when you check in. If your child attends camp, college/university or a private school, please bring their blank form with you to your visit. If you need a form filled out when they don’t have a physical exam, please call our office and we can fill one out based on their last appointment if they are up to date. Please allow two weeks for completion of the forms. If you would like to print out a blank physical form for your child prior to your visit, forms can be found below:
Please call the pharmacy to request all medication refills (except ADHD medications) if you have run out. Please call our office for ADHD medication refills and allow 3 days for that prescription to be ready for pickup. We are unable to send or fax ADHD medication prescriptions to the pharmacy due to regulations, so they must be picked up.
Please alert our office if you are unable to make an appointment, so we may make the appointment time available to other clients. Families who miss 3 appointments in a row without notifying our office may be required to leave the practice.
NPG follows the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended vaccine schedule. For the safety of all patients, we do not allow for altering or skipping the mandatory vaccines. Optional but recommended vaccines will be discussed at your appointments. Please call ahead of time if you have questions or concerns about which vaccines your child will be offered at their upcoming appointment or ask during their initial visits. If you require a copy of your child’s immunization record, it may be accessed through the CT WiZ public portal.
To detect certain health and developmental conditions, NPG administers regular screening tools at specific visits. You can expect to be screened for maternal depression for the mothers of newborns, autism at 18 and 24 months, depression in teenagers 12 years old and above, and asthma severity for older children and teens, among others. These are effective ways to pick up issues that may otherwise be missed during the visit and are recommended by insurance companies and public health organizations. If you have questions about the types of screenings or results, please discuss with our clinicians.
Patients are required to pay for services at the time of the visit or within 7 days to avoid a late fee. Some insurance companies may not cover all services as expected at the time of the visit, in which case the patient will be billed afterwards.
